Pricing FAQ
Common questions about plans, billing, and features.
Do I need a credit card to start?
+
No. Every paid plan starts with a 14-day free trial and no credit card is required. You'll only be asked for payment details if you choose to continue after the trial ends. The Free plan never requires payment information.
Can I change or cancel my plan at any time?
+
Yes. Upgrades take effect immediately with prorated billing — you only pay the difference. Downgrades take effect at the start of your next billing cycle. You can cancel at any time from the Billing section of your portal, and your plan stays active until the end of the period you've paid for.
Is there an annual discount?
+
Yes — paying annually saves 20% compared to monthly billing across all consumer and business plans. You can switch to annual billing at any time from the Billing section, and the savings are applied immediately on a prorated basis. MSP Enterprise plans can also be invoiced annually.
What counts as a "device" on home plans?
+
A device is any phone, laptop, desktop, tablet, or smart TV that has its DNS set to point to DNSAFE. If you configure filtering at the router level, all devices on that network share one slot. Device counts are checked at the time of plan purchase — you can always contact support if you need a brief overage accommodated.
What counts as a "seat" for MSP plans?
+
A seat is one active user or device across all your tenants combined. Active means at least one DNS query in the last 30 days. Inactive users don't count toward your seat total, so you're never paying for stale accounts. Seat counts are calculated at the end of each billing period.
How does DNSAFE filtering actually work?
+
DNSAFE operates at the DNS layer — the first step any device takes when connecting to a website or service. When a device makes a DNS query, DNSAFE checks the domain against ThreatGrid threat intelligence, category blocklists, and your custom rules before returning a response. Blocked domains return a safe NXDOMAIN or a redirect to your custom block page. Because filtering happens at the resolver level, no software or agent is needed on end-user devices.
Does DNSAFE log my DNS queries?
+
Query logging is optional and off by default on the Free plan. On paid plans, logging is on by default for the retention period of your plan (30–180 days depending on plan). Logs are stored securely and used only to power your threat dashboard and troubleshooting. You can disable logging at any time from your portal settings. We do not sell query data to third parties.
What payment methods do you accept?
+
All major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover). Business and MSP Enterprise plans can be invoiced via bank transfer. All payments are processed securely through Stripe. We don't store card details on our servers.
Can I get a refund if I change my mind?
+
Yes. We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on all paid plans. If you're not satisfied within the first 30 days after your trial ends, contact support@dnsafe.net and we'll issue a full refund — no questions asked. See our
Refund Policy for full details.
Do you offer discounts for non-profits or education?
+
Yes — we offer a 30% discount for verified non-profit organisations and accredited educational institutions on any plan. Reach out to sales@dnsafe.net with your organisation details and we'll get you set up.
